On October 25 FEUP organized a visit to its FactoRIS learning factory. During this visit students got acquainted with repurposing, retrofitting and refurbishment concepts and their impact in manufacturing. FEUP’s learning factory wa refurbished from deprecated Festo didactic pneumatic stations. Students got an in-depth explanation of the technical approaches and considerations involved in the refurbishment process. Three learning outcomes are being developed: zero-defect manufacturing, condition monitoring and system integration. These learning outcomes will be explored in a hands-on form next on November 17-18.
